Why Emma?
Every time I arrive at a yard, somebody’s home or a location and get my camera out of the bag I call on all my years of experience to guide me.
I’ve been looking through lenses for over 40 years and I’ve not been standing still in that time, I’ve evolved. From a still life advertising photographer, to high end portraits of school children, studio animal portraits, landscape photography, business portraits, equine photography and dog portraiture, I’ve been behind so many different cameras. I started out with large format studio cameras that use big 10” x 8” sheets of film that took 2 hours to process. Now I’m behind the latest, state of the art Sony Digital camera, that holds a tiny little card that captures your memories faster than you can blink.
It’s not just about taking the photograph, there’s a lot of background work going on. I’ve been a photographic retoucher alongside being a photographer for many of those years (yes before Photoshop 1.0 had even been thought of!). As soon as digital retouching arrived on the scene I was excited to see what was possible. My shoots may take 1 hour or 2 hours but the attention to detail after the shoot takes far longer. I work night and day to make the images you have seen on the website and on Social Media as perfect as they can be for my clients.
When we arrange our session and the weather lets us down, or anybody is ill (or lame), we just rearrange our shoot, it’s never a problem and there’s no extra charge for this. What would be the point in being fussy about timings? We live in the UK and I work outside, I have to work with the weather too!
I’m your photographer, we work together to get the images you want, and if you don’t know what you want and you’d like me to take the lead? I’m just as comfortable doing that. I work to capture the relationships, memories and images that you will take forward and hold close forever.
